A postdoc/senior researcher position is available in the group of Professor Nicole Megow at the University of Bremen in the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science (http://www.uni-bremen.de/en/cslog). The group’s research focus is on combinatorial optimization, approximation algorithms, optimization under uncertainty such as online, stochastic and robust optimization as well as learning-augmented methods.
The ideal candidate holds an excellent PhD degree in mathematics, theoretical computer science or a related area, and should have a strong publication record in the areas of discrete optimization and algorithm theory. A background in some of the other above-mentioned topics is desirable. In addition, the successful candidate is highly self-motivated, passionate about her/his work, and has a good ability to work both independently as well as in a team. Good communication skills and solid English skills, both oral and in writing, are expected. Teaching experience is an advantage.
The position is a full-time position for 3 years, with the possibility of extension, paid according to the Federal German Payment scale TV-L 13. The actual salary depends on academic experience, family situation, tax classification, etc.
The successful applicant is expected to conduct independent research on topics relevant to the above-mentioned areas, to cooperate with the group as well as external collaborators and to attract and supervise graduate students. The position comes with teaching duties.
